Tuesday , July 1, morning

We got a bit of a late start – although Fito was out at 8:00 to put a parking ticket on the rental car. There is no charge for parking on the streets from 9:00p.m. to 8:00a.m., otherwise you have to buy a ticket in the nearest machine and put it in your windshield to avoid a fine.

Clara and I went shopping in town and agreed to meet Ralph around 12:00 after he returned the car. We entered the local church with it chapel dedicated to San Roc, patron of epidemics and plaques. It seems that during the bubonic plague a high percentage of the population of Ibiza succumbed to the disease, but in Sant Antoni only 4 people died. Since then San Roc has been a local favorite. The artisans market which was supposed to be in the plaza behind the church was not there – it must open later in the afternoon. But I bought several small gifts and we met Ralph and had a drink in a café near the plaza where we had watched the festivities on Sunday night.

We went back to the boat and got our computers and headed to Rita’s, across the street from the marina, where they give you the password (“ritathesinger”) for free internet access. We had lunch there as I replicated my mail and posted several days to the blog. Rita is not completely free – there seems to be a size filter on the traffic, and I couldn’t upload and pictures to the blog, just text. The pictures will have to wait.

Back to the boat and off we go. Good-bye to Sant Antoni.
