The wind died down in the early morning and we suffered a brief plaque of mosquitoes, but just as quickly as it died down, it picked up. As Jacques likes to say “el Mediteraneo es así”.
We had a delicious breakfast on deck and then left hoping to head for Formentera. The wind was not agreeable, however. It was quite strong and head on. We plodded along for a while and tried to enter into a small cove – which turned out to be too small and filled with boats.
So we turned around – being as we had no obligation to go anywhere special – and enjoyed sailing for a while with the wind in our favor. 18 knots and both sails full.
We ended up back in Cala Bassa – our “Punto Fijo”, according to Jacques. A full morning's sail to arrive back at the same place.
